Timeform's view on Saturday's racing
Aidan O'Brien is chasing a record tenth win in the Derby and, while City Of Troy has taken up plenty of column space in the lead up, it is stablemate Los Angeles who makes most appeal at the prices.
City Of Troy tops Timeform weight-adjusted ratings on 135, but that figure was attained in the Dewhurst last season, and he has big questions to answer following his dismal run in the 2000 Guineas last month.
Los Angeles is rated 122p (adjusted) by Timeform, so has to bridge the gap in form terms, but he has done nothing wrong in his short career so far, and shaped as though he'll relish this step up to a mile and a half when making a winning return in the Derby Trial Stakes at Leopardstown, where he beat stablemate Euphoric by a length.
He is an uncomplicated type, which leads you to think that he shouldn't have any trouble with this unique track, and as the Timeform small 'p' attached to his rating suggests, we haven't yet seen the best of him. Los Angeles should be cherry ripe now and there's plenty to like about his chances.

Running Lion showed smart form when winning the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket by four and a half lengths last season, easily beating another smart filly in the process, and while she hasn't managed to win again since, she shaped remarkably well on her return last month.
That came over nine furlongs at Newmarket in the Dahlia Stakes and she looked the most likely winner when shaken up two furlongs out - she traded at 1.01 in running on the Betfair Exchange - but the lack of a recent run seemingly told in the final furlong.
That was Running Lion's first start for seven months, so it would be unfair to crab her finishing effort, and she will almost certainly be spot on for this test now.
Timeform's reporter handed her the Horse In Focus Flag, highlighting her as a horse to look out for next time, and she is at least 5 lb clear of her rivals on Timeform weight-adjusted ratings. This slightly shorter trip will be no problem and she rates a strong fancy.

This is going to be fast and furious, 20 three-year-old sprinters at the world's fastest five-furlong track, which is essentially all downhill.
One horse who is tailormade for this test is Grandlad, who showed plenty of promise on his first two starts over six furlongs where he was a little too keen, and the drop to five furlongs and more positive riding tactics have worked the oracle on his last two starts.
Grandlad opened his account with any amount in hand and he proved he is just as effective on turf when following up on his handicap debut at Goodwood last week, again displaying plenty of speed but also a terrific attitude at the finish.
The winning margin that day was only a neck, but the front two pulled four lengths clear of the field, and he arguably had a bit up his sleeve when hitting the line. That performance earned him the Horse In Focus Flag, meaning he is a horse to keep on the right side of, and with the timefigure backing up that performance, he looks particularly well handicapped from just 3 lb higher (he comes out top on Timeform weight-adjusted ratings).
Grandlad hasn't fared too badly with the draw and, sure to be up there with the pace, hopefully he reserves enough energy for the finish and he will take some pegging back if so.
