Candle Wax expected to improve markedly

Shifter can follow up
Redcar Nap - 15:35 - Back Candle Wax
Candle Wax didn't show much in three quick runs on the all-weather towards the end of last year but he has seemingly been brought along with handicaps in mind and he is very much bred to relish this significant step up in trip.
He was well beaten when last seen over an extended mile at Wolverhampton in December, but as a result, he starts life in handicaps from a basement mark. Candle Wax is bred to be much better than this level, has been gelded since, and also goes in first-time blinkers, so there is reason to think he'll prove a different proposition now for leading connections over this staying trip.

Redcar Next Best - 16:35 - Back Shifter
Shifter managed to win a couple of times last season, including over this course and distance, and she showed the benefit of her reappearance run when resuming winning ways at Ayr a fortnight ago.
She can be marked up for that effort, too, overcoming a positional bias to score in convincing fashion, asserting away in the closing stages. Shifter is 7 lb higher now, but it is worth noting that she has made a positive start for this yard, while she is also building a good rapport with this rider.
