Horse Racing Tips: Rhys Willams has a 40/1 NAP in the Get Out stakes at Dundalk

Dundalk 20:00: Great To Get Out 0.5pt win 40/1

Great To Get Out has only beaten three rivals in two starts at this track in maiden company but I think he could be capable of better now stepping up in trip on handicap debut.

He made his debut at the Curragh over a mile and there was a bit of market support at big prices but he was never in contention, racing greenly and dropping to last three furlongs out before making a bit of late headway to finish tenth.

It looked a strange decision to drop him back in trip to seven furlongs for his second start at Dundalk. He was a bit slowly away and raced greenly early on, having to be pushed along to stay in touch in last. He was still in last and pushed along entering the home straight but he made some late headway on the far side, clocking the second fastest final three furlongs in the field.

If the drop back from a mile to seven furlongs was strange, the decision to race Great To Get Out over six furlongs last time was even more puzzling. Unsurprisingly, he was outpaced throughout and beat only one rival home.

While he's been racing over unsuitable distances and showing clear signs of inexperience, I think Great To Get Out has also shown a bit of ability and he has the potential to be competitive now racing over a more suitable distance and starting life in handicaps off a lowly mark.

It might turn out that he wants something in between a mile and today's trip to show his best or that his late headway in his first two starts wasn't as promising as it seems but he looks overpriced in such a weak contest and any 25/1 or bigger appeals.
