Horse Racing Tips: Rhys Williams fancies Bud to be the punters' friend at Ffos Las

Stans The Man and Bullets Hill have been successful this season on their first start after making the Laura Hurley to Ella Pickard switch and I'm hopeful that Hey Bud can add to that list this afternoon.

He started his career with Jeremy Scott and showed some ability for him, reaching a peak rating of 124 over hurdles. His form dipped once switched to chasing but he ran well on his penultimate start for Scott in a handicap chase at Taunton when not beaten far off 110, an 18lb higher mark than he races off today.

After being pulled up at Chepstow on his next start, he was moved to Laura Young and ran well at this track over hurdles for her when finishing fourth off 102 before he was once again on the move. This time he went to Laura Hurley and Hey Bud was pulled up lame on his first start for her but showed more on his next and most recent outing at Plumpton when finishing sixth despite that track being completely unsuitable for him.

Hey Bud now switches back to chasing and a more suitable track and I think the trainer switch could generate at least something of a revival from Hey Bud, whose mark has been on the slide for the past three years.

If Bobmahley turns up again having run well in defeat yesterday then he could be tough to beat but such a quick return after a tough race isn't ideal and apart from him, this race is otherwise full of horses with questions to answer. Hey Bud has shortened from an initial ridiculous price but I think he's still overpriced given his potential to return to be a better level of form and any 15/2 or bigger appeals.
