  • Continuous is St Leger contender says Moore

  • Plenty of positives about Masekela

Doncaster 15:00 - Kevin Blake backs Spycatcher

"The five-year-old has bloomed this year, starting the campaign rated 106 before booming up the ranks with a Group 3 victory at Deauville prior to just being touched off by King Gold in the Prix Maurice de Gheest back at that track. Now, that contest wasn't a vintage Group 1 in quality terms, but it was still a high-class performance that reads well in the context of this race.

"He looks ready for the return to seven furlongs and the ease in the ground will hold no fears for him. The race should set up well for him with a solid pace looking likely despite the small field. It will be disappointing if he doesn't get the job done."

Doncaster 15:35 - Tony Calvin backs Tower Of London in the St Leger

"I loved Tower Of London when he won at Down Royal (after which I backed him for this race) and he really should have won the Bahrain Trophy last time, a race for which he was absolutely smashed into in the betting from an opening 2/1 straight after the overnights decs into 4/6 on the day. A very big, sustained move...

"He is set to thrive given a thorough test of stamina - he is a brother to St Leger winner Capri, as well as another decent stayer in Cypress Creek - and I have to side with him at the current odds."

Doncaster 15:35 - Ryan Moore on riding Continuous in the St Leger

"We had four in here at the five-day stage and run them all, but it was always going to be hard to get away from Continuous as our number one contender after the manner in which he won the Voltigeur. People talk about the tactics that day, but just focus on the fact that he won the best trial for this Classic by nearly 4 lengths, with Gregory back in third, and he was very strong at the line.

"Of course, you never know they stay until you try, and maybe quicker ground may have been ideal with stamina in mind, but he won on soft ground in France at two and he has very strong credentials."

Doncaster 16:10 - Daryl Carter backs Masekela

"Masekela has fallen considerably in the handicap, and rightly so after the performances this season, but his latest was different. He was fitted with the first-time cheek-pieces at York, and it was his first run after a wind operation, and those two factors could work again to see him return to the excellent form he showed as a two and three-year-old.

"Slow ground will be no issue for him, and he reunites with Oisin Murphy. There are many positives about his chances today; now could be the time to catch him."
