Daily Racing Multiple: Prince Dundee looks good for a famous Kelso double

Kelso racetrack
Kelso could be a happy hunting ground for Alan Dudman today

"Soft conditions suit and he stays well. Kelso suits although in four runs at the Borders venue he has finished second on three occasions."

It's Kelso for Alan Dudman on Wednesday and he is banking on Nicky Richards and Lucinda Russell to provide a 5/1 winning Sportsbook double...

New distance sure to suit Hughes and Bridge

Back Famous Bridge @ 11/10 in the 12:07 at Kelso

Silver Flyer ran out an easy winner by 9L yesterday for the column and hopes were briefly high for a twin celebration, but Scottish Accent faltered an appeared not to stay in the bid for the double. Hopefully we can rectify that as we play towards the very top end of the market on Wednesday.

One of Roxburgh's most famous sons Sir Walter Scott penned Ivanhoe - A Romance, and my love affair with Brian Hughes and Lucinda Russell continues today. A modern day Wilfred of Ivanhoe in search of Lady Rowena.

In the opener at Kelso, Famous Bridge ought to confirm superiority over Cosmic Outlaw, and I would make him more of a 4/6 shot for this race, so I am including him at 11/10 to start the double.

The 5yo had Cosmic Law 9L behind in third in a fairly decent Ayr novice last month and the track in Scotland looked sharp enough for the horse, but he utilised his stamina well to assert over a Warren Greatrex smart bumper horse. The sectional data indicated more of a test of speed with the first 2m averaging nearly 15 secs per furlong, with Famous Bridge's final 4f all under 14 secs - including one at 13.15.

The further distance looks sure to suit as he's related to 3m2f winner Too Many Chiefs and he certainly shaped like a stayer at Ayr.

Brian Hughes rides and is rather unsurprisingly the top jockey at Kelso this season in terms of winners with 5-37, and he should add to that tally. The double pays a fair 5/1.

Staying chase could be a piece of cake for Dundee

Back Prince Dundee @ 2/1 in the 15:30 at Kelso

Amateur Toby Wynne holds an impressive 2-10 over fences from his rides over the past five seasons and his partnership with Prince Dundee looks good for the closing staying handicap chase.

Lucinda Russell's 8yo gave it a valiant shot over Hexham's 4m last time in a gruelling contest, but he finished second and was outstayed by Lough Derg Farmer. The pair were 10L clear of the third so we have every reason to be positive from that 0-120. He's back in the same grade today.

Stephen Mulqueen held him up at Hexham, perhaps in view of helping him to get the trip. Previously he'd been more forwardly-ridden and I expect the drop to 3m2f for Wednesday might see him press on.

Soft conditions suit and he stays well. Kelso suits although in four runs at the Borders venue he has finished second on three occasions. No more seconds please!
