Aintree - 13:45 - Back Inothewayurthinkin
Inothewayurthinkin blundered at the first and failed to fire behind the reopposing Heart Wood when down the field on handicap debut at the Dublin Racing Festival but he roared right back at the Cheltenham Festival last month, rewarding incredibly strong support as the 13/8 favourite in the Kim Muir Handicap Chase.
Inothewayurthinkin looked well treated based on his third behind Gaelic Warrior and Il Etait Temps in a Grade 1 at Limerick at Christmas and he showed himself to be a very smart performer as he stormed up the hill to score by eight lengths, with the runner-up a further 18 lengths ahead of the third.
That was the performance of a progressive young chaser well worth his place back in Grade 1 company and he shades Timeform's ratings by 2 lb from Heart Wood. Testing conditions at Aintree, placing the emphasis on stamina, ought to be in the favour of Inothewayurthinkin who promises to stay extreme distances if asked down the line.
Aintree - 15:30 - Back Jonbon
Jonbon suffered a shock defeat when a long odds-on favourite for the rearranged Clarence House Chase when last seen in January but that was a rare blip on an impressive CV.
That was only Jonbon's third defeat from 15 starts under Rules and the others were against top-notch rivals in Constitution Hill and El Fabiolo. It's also easy enough to forgive Jonbon's defeat in the Clarence House as he made a shocking mistake at the fourth last and nearly came down.
However, there's no doubt that Jonbon's a top-class chaser at his best, and the performance he posted when slamming Edwardstone by nine and a half lengths on his return in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham in November gives him a clear edge on Timeform's figures, placing him 5 lb ahead of Ryanair winner Protektorat. This is a new test over a longer trip but he's the class act in the race.
Aintree - 16:05 - Back Shakem Up'Arry
Shakem Up'Arry ran a career-best on Timeform's figures when posting a decisive victory at Cheltenham on New Year's Day and he raised his game again to follow up in the Plate back over the same course and distance at the Festival last month.
Shakem Up'Arry jumped fluently, travelled strongly and produced a couple of superb leaps in the straight to put his stamp on the race, winning with more in hand than the margin of a length and a quarter might suggest after idling on the run-in.
He can have that effort upgraded and still looks fairly treated following a 6 lb rise in the weights, especially as his bold jumping and strong-travelling style identify him as one likely to take well to the National fences.
