Vaucelet can bounce back for Christie
Back Vaucelet @ 9/4 in the 18:35 at Punchestown
Stealthy Tom hit 1.511/2 in-running for a column 1-2 yesterday, but no doubting Ballyburn's ability. He does a lot wrong in races and still wins easily, I thought he should have been odds-on and I am exploring the bumper and hunter angle again today as there's very little edge in the championship races to be found.
The 3m Champion Hunter Chase looks ripe for Vaucelet to win, as Billaway isn't as good as he used to be and Chris's Dream lost his way rapidly under rules, so it's hard to asses where he is but he did run with credit in the big one at Cheltenham.
Vuacelet was sent off favourite for the Cheltenham race but looked in trouble some way out, but he could improve for the better conditions today as he shouldn't be wanting for stamina.
He landed the Championship race at Stratford last year and is a previous John Corbet winner and as an 8yo his best days in this sphere are still to come - which cannot be levelled at the others.
Panther has plenty of ability
Back Irish Panther @ 15/2 in the 19:45 at Punchestown
Backing in Bumper races is something I don't shy away from, and Irish Panther can hopefully gain some compensation for backers of the horse last time out where he finished third to none other than Ballyburn.
Ballyburn came out to win like a potential star horse in yesterday's NHF - admittedly in not the hottest race of the festival, but he's good. Irish Panther travelled well against him last time but didn't have the burst to match him over 2m.
Previously he'd moved as sweet as a nut in a race that saw him finish second to Fact To File - again another Mullins horse who subsequently finished runner-up in the Champion Bumper.
The selection traded at 1.041/25 in-play, and if you are travelling that well against a Grade 1 horse, you've got ability and I believe Irish Panther has.
The 6/1 looks too big here and I think the 2m2f will suit more than the race than last time over the minimum trip.
