Two Kempton selections in an each-way double

A red-hot Rosebery Handicap comes up at 14:40 with a good mix of older horse and ones with potential and if Chillingham is primed and ready to go in terms of fitness, the 9/110.00 each-way on him makes the punting list today.
This will be his first start for 135 days for trainer Ed Bethell and ran well finishing second to Prydwen over 1m6f at Wolverhampton. Prydwen has since won the All-Weather Marathon on Finals Day off a mark of 99, so that form looks a little better now.
Chillingham won a decent handicap at Thirsk last spring from 90, and he looked ahead of his mark on that occasion as he travelled strongly and won with ease over 1m4f.
He booted home strongly there and picked up so well. Times suggested the ground was heavy rather than soft, and at Kempton, I always think you do need a horse that stays and he will not be backing on that front.
The 5yo also finished second and ran well in the Bell ringer at Ripon last term in spite of the slow pace.
Spirit Mixer is a little shorter in the betting than the opening selection, but has moved on the Sportsbook from 8/19.00 into 13/27.50 with the four places for the Queen's Prize Handicap.
The 6yo is unexposed on the All-Weather with five starts but does act on it and finished second to Trueshan in the 2022 Northumberland Plate - a performance for the winner described in one quarter as the best performance in the history of racing. Take that with a large pinch of salt.
His career has been interrupted since then and has barely been seen. Last time out at Lingfield was his first run for 328 days, and before that was seen just once last year.
He clearly was in need of the outing on his latest reappearance and was a very impressive stayer back in 2022 - especially with such an impressive win at Chelmsford.
Hopefully Oisin Murphy can get him home in the famous Jeff Smith silks as he's bred to be top class out of the owner's Arabian Queen.
