Alan Dudman is relying on an old friend at Carlisle and also looks at a Ralph Beckett 3yo at Kempton for Wednesday's double...

Sire stats over 1m4f at Kempton identified

Both picks today are priced at 11/26.50 and 5/16.00
Czech Her Out's second yesterday was another runner-up to add to the collection to complete a frustrating day hitting 1.4740/85 in-running, while Jimmy Rabbitte was a non-runner, and an opportunity missed as the Charles Byrnes-trained 5/42.25 favourite was well beaten in that race.
Wednesday's opening selection is an old friend, as Temper Trap has appeared on more than one occasion this season and since he rattled up a hat-trick earlier this summer, he hasn't had the best of runs in terms of his position and ride in two of his last three starts.
I thought he was given far too much to do in a big field at Thirsk last month. He fared best of the hold-up horses that day and also met trouble in-running late on as David Allan went down several wrong avenues.
Once again he was held-up at Carlisle last time and the race panned out badly for him once again as he was further back than the winner and was also trapped out wide for much of the race and saw a lot of daylight, but he did stay on.
Whether he is handicapped poorly I am open to debate, so Alex Fielding's ability to claim 7lb in this from top weight will help, and as a previous CD winner at Carlisle, he deserves another forgiving chance.
The 20:00 1m4f Maiden at Kempton on Tuesday centres around Let Life Happen - the 11/102.11 favourite who should have won last time, and was a selection for the column last month.
The 3yo filly was given a mountain to climb from a hopeless position, and considering she is rated just 80 after three starts in which she has finished as the runner-up, she is one to avoid. She could well bolt up in this, but she offers no value at her price.
Ralph Beckett's Trust House looks interesting, as he's been off since the spring and represents a stable carrying all before them at the moment.
Trust House has been in two quality races with an opening novice in April behind Military Order, Exoplanet and Chesspiece. All three of those horses are now rated 100.
He tried testing ground again in May at Nottingham over 1m2f and showed ability without troubling the winner. Again the ground was deep with the official going given as heavy.
The 3yo clearly must have been thought of well to compete in two well above average races, and he should relish this step up to 1m4f today as his mother Rococo was a 1m4f winner, and there's a Leger winner too in his pedigree.
His sire Lope De Vega also has a 17% win rate over 1m4f at Kempton and placed at 35%. I do expect him to improve.
