Horse Racing Tips: The Dame and Ted the Kempton pair for Wednesday 54/1 double

• Kempton has a six-race card tonight

• Tea Leaf Ted off a low mark and low weight

• Three-time C&D winner appeals in second leg

Kempton - 19:00: Back Tea Leaf Ted

Kempton's card on Wednesday is as low-key as you could find with not a single race over 1m, and no class above any horse rated 70 so it's another small stakes day.

At least there is an interest from me with Tea Leaf Ted who lines up in the 19:00, who is in off a low rating (46) and low weight.

Following his first four starts where he achieved nothing, he has improved slightly switching to handicaps and showed progression with a pair of runs at Kempton finishing third and second over C&D.

Last time out he was poorly drawn so did well to finish second, the time was a better in comparison to the other races on the card that night over the distance.

Previously in the first-time cheekpieces he was up with the pace over 7f for virtually the whole way, but probably did a little too much out in front.

It's a poor contest and if he can replicate anything on the lines of those two efforts with the cheekpieces retained, he should be in the frame being drawn in seven.

Kempton - 19:30: Back Recuerdame

With nine runners in the following 1m Handicap the price of 9/110.00 on Recuerdame comes into E/W category

The 8yo ran over C&D last time in a race where he had a lot of work to do from a poor position out the back and stayed on from rear to take fourth.

He does miss the break and get himself behind which is a problem, although he couldn't get past the big gamble Cephalus at Lingfield in December when out of the money. However, Cephalus produced something of a lazarus like comeback and miracle that day.

A strong pace to aim at suits him and he did win well at Lingfield in November when staying on strongly over 1m and a good time was recorded for the grade.

Indeed, he has form in 0-65 and this is a 0-60 with regular rider Paddy Bradley taking off some weight and he's a three-time C&D winner.
