Horse Racing Tips: Tafsir and Al can be a classy Ayr pair in Monday double

• Al should be fitter after shaping well

• Consistent Tafsir looking for another win

Ayr - 15:50: Back Classy Al

Classy Al for Jim Goldie is fit from his first run of the season at Musselburgh recently and he's on the radar to get on the scoresheet for the trainer on Monday.

Goldie has a few runners today of interest, and Classy Al looks well capable from his mark, but more importantly at a trip he should be a force at.

He ran over 5f last time, and Musselburgh is a fairly sharp five too. Considering it was his first attempt at the minimum, he did well to finish third.

The selection didn't have the pace of his stablemate American Affair that day and had to come from a long way back after missing the break. A touch of rustiness perhaps, but a return to 7f for this afternoon is a huge plus as he is also a course and distance winner.

All three of his wins are at Ayr and he has enough form on good to soft to keep him onside.

Ayr - 17:35: Back Tafsir

A similar sort of price awaits with the second runner today in the double and Goldie's Tafsir is a horse with an ultra consistent record and she's tough.

Indeed, she ran 17 times in 2023 and won three times and placed second five times. Her mark shot up too and improved 11lbs in the season, so she won't be wanting or lacking for attitude and fight.

She's another from the stable who should come on from her seasonal return, as she appeared at Newcastle 21 days ago and was caught out by the lack of pace in a race where the finished at 114% as a closing speed in the final three furlongs.

The 5yo mare stays well and has winning form at 1m6f - which could well be her best trip. She won at Musselburgh last season with a confident ride from Paul Mulrennan as she weaved through runners to come from the back. She won off 55 there but had in plenty in hand.

Expect another hold up ride as she looks to come from off the pace and the ground shouldn't be a factor either as she has scored on good and acts on good to soft.
