Horse Racing Tips: Rabaah and Wild Lion for Extra Place York multiple

• Both selections in Extra Place Special races

• Wild Lion backed this week into 13/27.50

• Rabaah goes handicapping from 97 at York

York - 14:35 - Back Wild Lion

Saeed bin Suroor's Wild Lion was one of my antepost selections earlier this week, and I am pleased to see Tony Calvin has included him for Saturday's ITV selections.

He looked a decent performer capable of better when winning a 0-85 at Newcastle last October, and I was impressed with the way he breezed into contention.

The 5yo handled the strong early pace well, and considering his slowest furlong came at the end, the drop down from a stiff 1m to York's 7f looks a wise move from his handler.

He was last seen out in Meydan 113 days ago, but he has gone well fresh in the past and he's so lightly-raced as a 5yo, I'd be disappointed if he couldn't exploit his mark of 91.

The angle with the headgear is also a positive with the first-time cheekpieces, as Tony Calvin points out with 24 wins from 117 with the paint rollers.

York - 15:40 - Back Rabaah

Another of the Extra Place Special races to digest for Saturday on the Knavesmire and a big field for a 0-105 6f Handicap, and I didn't expect to see Rabaah in handicap company so soon.

He looked a very exciting horse in the winter winning both his All-Weather starts with ease at Lingfield and Wolverhampton by a combined distance of nearly 7L.

Rabaah has been keen, and he showed that when scoring at Lingfield, but he still was eager despite bolting up Wolves.

The 3yo ran in Newbury's Listed Carnavon Stakes last time, and I was left feeling disappointed as he checked out in tame fashion.

He was keen again, and after a break of 82 days for that run, I give him the benefit of the doubt.

The selection is off 97 for his handicap debut and a big field will help his over-racing style. We have the five places too on the Sportsbook for the each-way angle.
