Poet Master can be a force off mark of 100

Jane Chapple-Hyam landed this Fillies' Maiden in 2021 with the smart Bellosa who won the race from the front by 7L and she could have a good one with the once-raced Rolica.
It's good to see her fairly strong in the betting too this morning on the Sportsbook - cut from 9/25.50 into 10/34.33 and she has some experience from her first start as a juvenile.
That came at the back-end of the season at Nottingham in brutally heavy ground, also over the extended 1m, and that test was too much for her despite being sent off favourite.
She hung under pressure, but I put that down to the ground and perhaps not seeing at such a testing trip.
While her dam was a winner over 1m, there's a fair bit of 6f and 7f pace in her pedigree, and she should be a different proposition here on better ground and a drop to 7f.
Poet Master is a horse I have been looking forward to, and I put him up as a bet for the Musselburgh meeting that got cancelled - and thus robbing me of seeing him in the Silver Arrow Handicap.
I am keeping the faith with him as on his final start in 2023, he was striking with the way he travelled at Doncaster at the St Leger meeting on good to soft ground, and won with a ton in hand off 92.
He looked green in the finish and for a while seemed to be toying with the eventual third Zouky, and once asked to go and kick on, he did, despite edging across to his left.
I'll re-hash the quotes from his trainer Karl Burke that day, who said: "Karl Burke said of his last term: "He'll probably be a very decent horse when he puts everything together. It will have to be black type now but the better the race, the better he'll be."
The ground could also be a big factor today as he has form on good and good to soft and he has made the running before - which is never a bad thing around Newmarket.
He's got to be pretty good here to defy a rise of 8lb up to 100, but he does have a bit of class and is clearly quite an exciting handicapper for the season.
