Morfee to have ideal conditions at Plumpton

Alan Dudman landed a 6.33 winner yesterday
A decent 0-135 Novices' Handicap Chase at Hereford lights up the Monday card and groundwise we are away from the heavy and taxing conditions, and that should certainly help the opening selection in Henry's Friend.
He was a talented young novice hurdler rated 128 and dipped his toes into Graded company a couple of times, but sent over fences this term has seen run a couple of times.
He made his chase debut at Doncaster in a warm race over a trip that looked on the sharp side, but made no mistake at Newbury last time and showed the benefit of that seasonal warm-up to win well at the Berkshire track.
If you can jump at Newbury, you can jump anywhere (famous last words). He enjoyed the step up to 2m7f at Newbury, and while back down in trip today to 2m5f, the ground will suit him as he won on a decent surface at Doncaster.
Rated 129, he is well treated too for just his third run today over the bigger ones.
I am partial to Seamus Mullins' long distance horse and Morfee certainly fits the bill today at Plumpton at 2/13.00.
He finished second behind Godot last time at the track over 2m4f in what looked a competitive race, and he went down by a short head over what seemed a sharper trip.
He has form at 3m2f and winning form, so that looked a decent effort over the inadequate distance, and it's far more in keeping with his improving profile that he returns to 3m2f today, a trip guaranteed to suit.
Also the ground comes into the equation as last time it was soft, and he has a fair bit of form on good ground. He landed a couple of staying hurdles last term on decent ground, and his Taunton win over 3m this season came on good to soft, and the surface is never too testing at Taunton.
A win over hurdles in easy fashion from 109, makes him look a well handicapped chaser too off 110 and Mullins over five seasons at the track has a 15% record - which is good for a relatively small team.
