Closing race at Dundalk a strong handicap
-
Each-way option with Migdam at 9/110.00
-
Alan Dudman has a 70/171.00 each-way double
Sea Chariot is one of many with good claims in the 18:00 and Pierre Lapin was a possible on the list for the Dundalk champion trainer Ado McGuinness, but I feel the price has gone now on him from 9/110.00 into 13/27.50, certainly for the each-way angle, but Sea Chariot is another with claims.
The 3yo is 2-2 over C&D and is still very much unexposed and looks a big player with the return to his favoured 1m this evening.
He ran over 7f last time from a mark of 80 but couldn't get involved from the back under a hold-up ride and he was a little keen too.
Sea Chariot looked pretty good winning at the track however, under similar tactics over the 1m in October. He got a lovely tow into the race when held up and travelled well under Shane Foley - although Jake Coen takes over tonight in this field of apprentice riders.
He had Little Keilee back in fourth that day and I am convinced she's a well handicapped mare.
Having been gelded in October, today will be only his third winter run and he could be one earmarked for a few races into January and February and I look forward to seeing if he can travel as well as he did when he landed that handicap over C&D in October.
The 20:00 is an Extra Place Special on the Sportsbook and Ado McGuinness can add to his tally at the track in 2023 with Migdam - although he does need to bounce back after a couple of tame finishing efforts.
This is a decent race too with the top weight Tyson Fury off a mark of 100, but Migdam has the profile that McGuinness and the owners do well with.
He's an ex-Sir Michael Stoute horse who won a Doncaster 1m2f Handicap in 2022 and looked a potential stakes performer, and subsequently ran in a good handicap at Sandown when finishing fifth off 96.
The 4yo looked middle-distance horse certainly, and one that would do well over 1m4f, so his last two runs over 1m at Dundalk for McGuinness wouldn't have been ideal.
Back to the extended 1m2f tonight should help him, and he's a horse with a 3-5 strike-rate on the All-Weather including one over the 1m at Dundalk.
However, this could be his best trip and we have the four places to play with too.
