Pulling Stumps ran well behind smart chaser

Alan Dudman has a 13/114.00 double for Wednesday
Pulling Stumps is a lightly-raced type to go to war with over fences and he can build on a decent second last time out, a race where ultimately he was no match for the smart Brave Kingdom.
That was at Newbury and looked a strong piece of form at the time, and considering Brave Kingdom was rated 130 over hurdles, I would expect him to be nearer 140.
Pulling Stumps was nice and strong in the betting too this morning into 9/43.25 and he looks every inch a stayer and will have no issue with the 3m today in deep ground as he was impressive over hurdles at Ludlow in 2022. He didn't do anything quickly that day and just galloped and galloped.
His jumping wasn't totally fluent at Newbury over the stiff fences there, but you tend to get that from a Philip Hobbs chaser, and it was only his second start over the larger ones. So he has time on his side.
There's scope from 119 and like the second selection, he is towards the head of the weights and is able to sneak into this winnable grade.
Ruth Jefferson's Autumn Return bumped into Holly last time out at Market Rasen, and Holly's victory for Jonjo O'Neill that day really did come from nowhere, but there were no excuses as the mare ran out a 7L winner and she travelled all over the selection.
Autumn Return was down in trip that day to 2m, and with Market Rasen a fairly sharp track, the distance was far too much of a speed test and she'll be much happier today back to near 2m4f.
She had previously won a mares' race at Musselburgh at a short price and with her mark at 119 (down 1lb), she is able to run here off top weight in this 0-120 grade.
I'd like to see her ridden positively and kick on early rather than the contest to turn into a dash, and with the ground so testing, her stamina will be drawn out.
