Two tips for Southwell on Friday

Heathen rise of 6lb not too harsh

Hiya Maite over 5f dynamite on the Tapeta
Heathen was an easy winner last time out at Southwell and one for the column, and landed one or two bets that day as he was absolutely hammered in the market and went off 9/43.25.
He's a similar sort of price again for Friday and up in class considerably, but he delivered the sort of performance that he looked capable of back in March before he lost his way.
Heathen landed his Southwell win last time from 74 and a 6lb rise doesn't look overly harsh considering he hammered the field by 4L. He always travelled well on the speed and was helped by his market rival sticking over the far side. Two of his final three furlongs were sub-12 seconds and he produced two of the quickest furlongs out of the three in the whole field.
The switch to David O'Meara clearly paid dividends after leaving Ed Dunlop and he's a horse I have always thought could be useful.
He sticks to 1m4f and goes well at the track and with his high cruising speed, looks a decent bet tonight.
Five furlongs and Southwell suit Hiya Maite and he can gain some compensation after running so well over C&D last time in second. Indeed, it was a card where trainer Roy Bowring had both sprinters in the money without a win and Hiya Maite at 6/42.50 gives us a 15/28.50 double.
The 5yo was just nabbed by veteran Bergerac last time out in a good race at the course. Indeed it was a 0-90 so he's slightly down in class to 0-85 company and has gone up 2lb for his latest effort.
His recent second was following a 55-day break so he'll be spot on here and he was a winner at Beverley in the summer off 83, so he's in the right ballpark.
With one way of going - which is from the front, he stays 6f but is best at the minimum 5f and is a straightforward runner that should be well out of trouble.
