Alan Dudman picks out 13/2 and 9/2 selections for a Sportsbook multiple
O'Sullivan to dominate from the front
Back A Dublin Job @ 13/2 in the 15:15 at Cork
Both selections ran well without winning for yesterday's column as Ned Tanner and Your Own Story finished second with in-running prices in defeat at 1.330/100 and 1.51/2, which was frustrating to say the least. But Your Own Story looks a good staying prospect given he's only seven years of age.
I'd usually head to Sedgefield for a punt, but they barely have a runner on the card today so Cork is the first stop and teenage riding sensation Mikey O'Sullivan can hopefully boot home our first pick with A Dublin Job, who was backed from 7/1 into 6/1 this morning on the Sportsbook.
With the ground so testing today in Mallow, A Dublin Job will act in the conditions.
He's quite an excitable horse, especially with recent headgear. He's been going off aggressively from the front and finished second last time over 3m at Galway in heavy - although he was subsequently demoted to third. The first-time blinkers lit him up a bit and he didn't quite last home.
He'll need to hurdle better too, as at Galway he was very ragged.
Previously he had finished second at Tipperary over 3m on quicker ground, but was outstayed by Problem Solver in the first-time cheekpieces. A Dublin Job was well backed on that occasion.
It looks a smart move coming down to 2m4f today, especially with the way he goes off hard. O'Sullivan takes off 5lb, which for his talent, is quite ridiculous. He's lowly-rated in a poor race, but with the pieces and the blinkers on together, he will also give a chance for a back-to-lay.
Rachael off a low weight one to follow at Cork
Back West Breeze @ 9/2 in the 15:50 at Cork
West Breeze produced a career-best last time at Clonmel to win in convincing fashion from the front, and his clean round (bar two errors) of jumping looked a big factor.
The win came over 2m3f in soft conditions and he was supported too on that occasion. Indeed, he was backed previously at Clonmel when finishing second and done at 1.251/4 in-running, but he must be thought of as a well treated horse at this level.
He's only a 7yo and is unexposed, and with his sire as Westerner, he should stay today's extra half a mile, and I am looking forward to seeing him make the running again under Rachael Blackmore - who takes over from a conditional.
Both races are Extra Place Specials on the Sportsbook if you are playing each-way.
