Easterby for the each-way selection again
Carrigillihy 14/1 in the 13:35 at Doncaster
The Gatekeeper got the place money with a fifth yesterday at Doncaster and ran well at a BSP of 20. Boardman was mid-pack for Tim Easterby, and it's the Easterby angle again in the opening Amateur Jockeys' Handicap.
His Carrigillihy gives us the four places option again in what looks a wide open race, and after two non-descript runs over hurdles, he's interesting switched back to the Flat today in a field of 12.
One of his best efforts last term came in defeat at York in a 0-90, a race he attempted 2m for the first time and appeared to get the trip well in third.
That run on the Knavesmire was from 71 - the mark he's on today and his stamina will be of great benefit here considering how tough conditions were yesterday.
He's a real Pontefract specialist - especially over 1m4f which looks his optimum trip, and as we saw yesterday with Lucinda Russell's double, her stamina horses came to the fore when taking both of the apprentice races at the tail of the card on Town Moor - once the races were off! Dog walkers on track apparently oblivious to a race meeting.
Muddy has a chance to make all
Back Little Muddy @ 11/1 in the 17:05 at Doncaster
With a name such as Little Muddy, you'd be disappointed if she didn't handle the conditions today. She runs in the first division of the 5f Handicap at 17:05, and is another selection who has form over further.
Drawn 2 slightly err, muddies the waters, as the high numbers on the stands' side looked to have a big advantage yesterday, but it's not a huge field size and she can make the running so has the option of going down the centre or angling over.
A front-runner over 5f with proven 6f abilities could also present a nice back-to-lay option too to trade out your stake if you're playing on the win single.
She goes well at the track with a record of 3, 4, 3, 15, 3, 1, 9, 8, and while she possibly could need the run as she didn't fire at all on her seasonal debut last year, she's worth another each-way poke for an open race.
