Filly with top jumps' pedigree set for debut at Ayr
It's quite staggering to still see good in the description for Saturday at Ayr considering the weather, but the card is a good one on the west coast and Famous Bridge won't mind the soft part of the conditions anyway, and rain will be very much appreciated for the opening selection.
Although he does have winning form on good to soft and good.
He landed a pretty warm novice hurdle in 2021 at Ayr and stayed on strongly to win over 2m4f that day, and probably found that a little too sharp.
The 7yo won again in March that season at Kelso, and that was the performance I was most impressed with in soft as he travelled strongly and stayed and was most impressive.
From hurdling to chasing, while he wasn't faultless last term, he won twice over the larger ones from his four outings last term and two at Wetherby over 3m.
He has the look of a good staying chaser for Nicky Richards this term and he'll certainly be one for those decent 3m races over fences, but today looks a good starting point.
With winning form at Ayr, he can build and add to his current mark of 128.
While most give Bumper races the swerve, especially newcomers, it's an area I like to punt in and the presence of an Olly Murphy makes the price for a Lucinda Russell newcomer with a good pedigree, and Russell, as usual, has some good chances on the card today.
Golden Point couldn't have a better pedigree for this game as her dam is a full sister to the Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo, while Grand Crus and Scottish National winner Al Co are also in there.
While top pedigrees can mean little, this filly is in a good yard and they don't buy badly.
Her French sire Bathyrhon is unfamiliar in the UK, but he's from the great and much missed Monsun line and as a filly, she gets weight from rivals here.
With the excellent Patrick Wadge also able to claim 3lb, she looks one to have a small interest in for her debut.
