Ryan Moore Superboost (Ylang Ylang)
Ryan Moore was out of luck on City Of Troy in yesterday's 2,000 Guineas but the Betfair Ambassador holds leading claims of landing today's 1,000 Guineas aboard Ylang Ylang, and if you fancy the 3yo filly to finish in the top five today then you can back her at the super-boosted price of 6/42.50.
I won't be deviating from Charlie Appleby for the third and final day of the Newmarket meeting and New London can hopefully get us off to a good start in the 1m6f Handicap.
Priced at 10/34.33 on the Sportsbook this morning, the 5yo steps out of Group company and ground conditions will be tailor-made for his chances too.
Two runs in Meydan in February were against Warren Point and Siskany and both off those were off the bat since being gelded.
On the face of it, it doesn't look as if he's been easy to train. Wind surgery, headgear, gelded - it's all there, but one thing we have on our side is a stayer who has plenty of back-class as he finished second in the St Leger in his 3yo season. He was outstayed by the winner, but the ground (good to soft) might have turned against him.
When he gets it right, he does look good and he's a strong galloper with plenty of physical presence about him.
Off 108, he can defy top weight.
Appleby and Buick can complete the Guineas double with Dance Sequence, and I rate her chances at 11/26.50 for the 1,000 Guineas.
My gut reaction after her second in the Nell Gwynn was that she really ought to have won as she loomed up nearside but couldn't seem to go through with the effort against a race-fit rival, and after that, I thought she'd beat the winner when they meet again.
Indeed Appleby's reaction was telling afterwards as he outlined: "I said to William as they were going out, 'Don't forget, she's still learning', and that was how it was for her today. She's going to be all over going up in trip to a mile, and this was not the race we were training her for; you don't tune them up for the trial.
"We want her to be at her best in two and a half weeks, and today's experience and that step up in trip will help ensure she is."
Hopefully she'll learn from the experience, and indeed improve for fitness considering she looked a filly of size and a big unit.
At 11/26.50, she can complete the Classic double too for super sire Dubawi - who needs no introduction.
