"He has won five races from his last 12 horses sent out this month, ticking along at a brilliant 42% and On Springs is on a roll at the moment."
Alan Dudman had a Cartmel winner yesterday and his quest for a Tuesday multiple at around 16/1 takes him to Ripon and Newton Abbot...
Bossipop off a very dangerous mark back at his beloved Ripon
Back Bossipop @ 7.06/1 in the 15:40 at Ripon
Rapid Flight was a 2/1 winner for the column yesterday, but once again the second success eluded us. It's not been a bad August with two winning multiples (and one at 23/1), and a few decent priced single winners. Hopefully that successful duo is just around the corner.
The best race of the day comes from Ripon and a typically competitive 0-80 6f Handicap, and I am looking to take on the favourite Mark's Choice with the Tim Easterby-trained Bossipop 7.06/1.
I've tipped the 9yo in today's Daily Racing News column as he is so well treated these days from 69 and hasn't totally lost the plot in terms of form.
He ran a flat race and too free at Newmarket last time, but HQ form these days is a law unto itself, and form there is not stacking up at all.
I am rating Bossipop's chances on a good run at York when third off a mark of 70 in the same grade. He potentially could have had a less than ideal draw that day in one, as the winner and second were both in a higher berths.
He hasn't won for a while, but he likes Ripon as a four-time CD winner, and his trainer Easterby with jockey David Allan have a fine record together at the Yorkshire venue with 69-425 at 16% and 167 placed at 39%.
Ground is in his favour too.
Pauling's golden run to continue at Abbot
Back On Springs @ 2.47/5 in the 17:05 at Newton Abbot
We're jumping for our second pick of the day and few NH trainers are in better form at the moment than Ben Pauling.
He has won five races from his last 12 this month, ticking along at a brilliant 42% and On Springs is on a roll at the moment.
The chaser has been revitalised with headgear switches on decent ground recently and scored at Worcester last time against a back-to-form horse. He travelled very well under different tactics last time compared to his previous 2L success at Stratford - where he came from further back.
A slight increase in distance isn't a problem for me today, as he is by Mahler, and he shaped as if this trip is well within range at Stratford.
Rider Luca Morgan is 2-9 at Newton Abbot too in the last five seasons.
