Marching Army defied a drift yesterday as the first winner for the column on Sunday - scoring at a BSP of 16.331533/100. A pity Beauty Choice ran all over the shop as the 7/4 favourite in the second leg - thus denying us a 54/1 double.

We're on the Flat for Monday and Cartmel's card is a good one, and I am sticking with in-form Getaway Jewel to go in again.

The feature of the day at Cartmel is the Cavendish Cup, and a novice on the up can take the 12k first prize in Rapid Flight.

He'll need a personal best today as in opposition is the Uttoxeter Summer Cup winner Jerrysback, and while he has found a new lease of life at the age of 10, I have been very impressed with the jumping technique of James Moffatt's chaser.

A rise in the weights of 24lbs is testament to his impressive run so far this summer. He might have only beaten one runner over fences last time at the track, but he won the Cumbria Grand Chase on his previous outing with a very impressive performance against Dee Star - who has scored again since.

Again he made the running and again his jumping was spot on. Ground is in his favour today too and the stats of his trainer Moffatt at Cartmel this term read 10-46 at 22%.

His rider Charlotte Jones is even better, and she's got a great relationship with this horse and she is 35% here this season.
