Diamond looks to have a very bright future

A great day in store at Newmarket and the first bet goes in the Group 1 Fillies' Mile. While Commissioning looked highly talented in and out of the dip to win the Rockfel at Newmarket last time, she still looked quite raw and it's a quick turnaround to have a bet at 8/15.

Bright Diamond looks far more interesting at 13/2 and it was no surprise to see the 9/1 gone by early this morning.

Her devastating victory on the July course was by a massive 9L on debut - and she ran a very fast penultimate furlong under 11 seconds. The bare form has been subsequently let down with a couple of the well beaten horses in behind doing that again - getting well beat.

Her trainer Karl Burke pitched her into the Prestige on her next start, but a messy beginning leaving the stalls wasn't ideal and she looked a little unlucky. Once again, furlong six of the seven was her quickest and those times suggest she will love the 1m on a more conventional track today.

Eight runners also gives us a rather sneaky each-way option too at the price to play an each-way Sportsbook double.

Educator to get back on track after Salisbury comeback

A similar sort of price for the second pick and a quality renewal of the Old Rowley Cup over 1m4f, and I give a chance to Educator for William Haggas and Ryan Moore who is out quickly after a defeat at Salisbury to the potentially very good Okeechobee.

He was well beaten in small field in Wiltshire over shorter, but he shaped like a horse who needed the run after a 170-day break.

The 1m4f distance looks perfect as he was a potential Derby horse at one stage. He won at the Craven meeting in April (which seems an age ago now) and track form at his best trip can hopefully see us hit at least fifth place as we have the Extra Place Special in operation.

Moore also believes he'll improve for the trip. Click here to read the jockey's views on Educator.
