Daily Racing Multiple: Diego can show the way for Wednesday Hexham multiple

Hexham will be a real test today as Alan picks out the 4m Handicap Chase for one of his selections

Alan Dudman had another single winner yesterday at 10/3 but missed the double, and his multiple on Wednesday pays out 16/1 at Hexham if successful...

  • Silent Words at 7/2 was Alan's sixth single winner in nine days yesterday
  • Two Hexham selections that should make an impact on Wednesday
  • Al backs a 16/1 Sportsbook double in the north east

Atomic has the stamina to see off her rivals

Back Atomic Angel @ 6.05/1 in the 12:23 at Hexham

Six individual winners in nine days and two placed following Silent Word's win yesterday at Newcastle. We were on the right side of the gambled on Jack Darcy in the feature and he was well backed, but everything went wrong with a steady pace and being too keen. There will be other days I am sure with him as he was only beaten 1L to deny us the double.

I do fancy a couple of horses at Kempton tonight with Amleto worth another chance following an awful debut and Umberto in the first division of that 1m Novice, but Hexham always takes preference and with rain, rain and more rain hitting the north east, it's unlikely to be a day for the showboaters - which is exactly what I was when I played football.

Stamina to the fore with the 2m4f opener over hurdles, and Atomic Angel is back over the smaller obstacles following two fencing efforts over 3m3f at Sedgefield this term. She made a jumping error on her chase debut in early October, and ran a fair enough race over the same distance last time out behind win machine Larry Looby.

Sedgefield form translates well to Hexham for me and vice versa, and last winter she made all to win over 3m3f in good to soft conditions from 82. With winning form at Hexham over 2m4f in heavy ground too, the stamina should see her go close as she won't be wanting for staying power over today's distance.

She's by the enigmatic Geordieland, who was a bit of a rogue but a highly talented one and he's throwing up some good jumpers including Straw Fan Jack - who won at Cheltenham's Showcase meeting, and there was nothing wrong with his attitude.

Dillan Hurst claims 7lb, and the selection is off an ultra low weight here. A must if it goes heavy.

Diego can show the way in long distance stamina sapper

Back Diegos Way @ 2.757/4 in the 14:23 at Hexham

We might not have the four-miler at the Cheltenham Festival anymore - which is a real shame in my opinion, but we still have a marathon at Hexham over the distance and the second (Prince Dundee) and third (Dee Star) from last year's renewal are back to have another crack at the prize.

Dundee stays well enough, but if it rides testing, the 4m might just stretch him.

Diegos Way was drifting from 6/4 to 7/4 this morning, and I am hoping he can go around 2s or 5/2, as he is the most interesting for me judged on some of his Irish runs and made the trip to Bangor a worthwhile one last time out - storming home by nearly 5L in what looked quite a good race for the track.

Cheekpieces have really improved this horse on his last three starts and at Bangor he was strongest at the finish by some way and is worth a shot at today's 4m. In that small field at Bangor he was going the least impressively with the way he travelled over the far side, but rousted along he responded well and his jumping held up even though he slightly bunny-hopped the last.

I can see Hexham suiting him and expect him to get going down the far side before they go into the straight for the final time.
