Show some Love for Saeed in the hunt for a winner

Back Dubai Love @ 9/1 in the 14:05 at Thirsk

I have already laid down my marker in terms of Saturday bets on Monday and Tuesday in the antepost column standing in for Tony Calvin, and Dubai Love looked the most interesting then, and still is for the Thirsk Hunt Cup at 9/1.

It's a shame there are 15 runners, although the race in recent seasons has attracted 15 on a few occasions.

Dubai Love had some smart form in Meydan back in 2020, and a couple of her standout efforts in the UK came in the Musidora as a 3yo, and also a placed effort in the Sandringham on soft ground.

She does stay 1m well, and the angle of the first-time headgear is a good one for a filly that has dropped down to a mark of 98. It's also a rare ride for Dougie Costello donning the Godolphin blue for Saeed bin Suroor.

Appleby set for a 1-2 in the Guineas?

Back Coroebus @ 5/1 in the 15:40 at Newmarket

Another Godolphin runner was the apple of my eye earlier in the week with Coroebus, and I am backing him to cause the "upset" against his more feted stablemate in Native Trail.

It's hard to find fault with the latter, and I was very impressed with his performance in the Craven, a real bull of a horse who seems to have a fine mentality for this racing malarkey.

However, Coroebus is a smoother model, a totally different type, and for the 2,000 Guineas I always have held the belief you do need a bit of speed, and Coroebus as got that in abundance.

The price of 5/1 is quite an incentive, and it's fine that Native Trail has shown his hand, we are yet to see the hand of Coroebus other than a Newmarket spin and workout at HQ during the said Craven fixture.

The draw gods have thrown up a curveball as one is drawn in 1 and the other in 15, and Newmarket races can be messy with splits - and we even saw that on Friday in small fields.

Looking at his performances on the clock, his tactical speed comes at just after halfway with his burst of pace, and he clocked a nice 10.82 when winning on his debut in the closing stages when winning.

He'll need to be timed to perfection and not go to early as he was done with that move in the Royal Lodge at 1.011/100, but he's classy and Classic success beckons again for super-sire Dubawi.
