NAP - 13:30 - Back Ginnys Destiny @ 7/24.50
Ginnys Destiny was beaten on chase debut. That was the first of four starts over fences and they have all been at Cheltenham. Since that defeat he has managed three wins all of which were underlined by how well the horse jumped while making the running.
We know that it often pays to be up with the pace at Prestbury Park and Paul Nicholls charge definitely knows his way around here. His last win was by far the most impressive, carrying top weight of 12 stone to victory against some smart rivals.
He has a very similar profile to last year's winner Stage Star (same trainer and jockey) and with plenty of question marks over the jumping ability of some of his market rivals he looks to play a leading role in this year's edition of the Turners novice chase.
Next Best - 14:50 - Back Stage Star @ 7/24.50
This year's Ryanair chase is very open and it could pay to be with a horse that ticks all the major trends for the race. Stage Star won the Turners last year, leading from the drop of the flag and staying on strongly at the finish.
Winning at Cheltenham in the past is a big positive and especially at the festival where the atmosphere can negatively affect some horses. This 8-year-old gelding has had two runs this season and on the first he made a shuddering error at the last fence and it was quite remarkable to just stand up let alone regain momentum and go and win the race.
The second run was in a handicap off top weight, on heavy ground, giving nearly two stone to three of his five rivals. He was not able to lay a glove and was ultimately pulled up. This is a run that you can put a line through and it is not a negative to be beaten on your previous start when lining up for this race. He can make the running and pile on the pressure of his rivals with stamina sure to hold up.
Each Way - 15:30 - Back Flooring Porter @ 10/111.00
The Stayers Hurdle is a puzzle that needs picking apart. There are all of the old favourites running in here and only really a couple of young pretenders that are looking to claim the crown. The two that most are looking at are Crambo and Teahupoo, both of whom are coming to the race fresh after a break.
This usually has not been a winning strategy though and most winners in previous years have run in the last 80 days. Flooring Porter has been switched back to hurdles after his novice chasing campaign did not hit the heights of his exploits over hurdles. He did, however, win impressively on chase debut at Cheltenham, proving that he loves this course.
He has won the race on two occasions (2021, 2022) and although he is now a 9-year-old he would still retain plenty of his old ability. Sometimes when plans change it can be a blessing in disguise, he may want the ground to dry up a little but at a nice each-way price he is worth siding with to come up the hill strongly at the finish.
Cheltenham/Europa League double - Noble Yeats Top 3 + Both teams to score in Liverpool v Sparta Prague @ 3/14.00
The 2022 Aintree Grand National winner is back to winning ways following his snatch-and-grab victory in the Grade One Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham last month. Noble Yeats is infamous for his power through the final furlongs and will certainly challenge the young bucks of Teahupoo and Crambo here.
Many old rivalries will be renewed in this outing which certainly creates a cloud over picking an outright winner. But with Noble Yeats' history of adaptability across distances, especially around the 3m range, he is likely to contend for honours here.
Noble Yeats made his third career start over hurdles last month and there's certainly plenty of scope for him to improve given his top-class chaser status. The competition is tough but with his record and adaptability, we expect him to creep into the places on the final push.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have one foot in the quarter-finals thanks to their statement 5-1 victory in the first leg, which could pay dividends in this market. Klopp will likely take the chance to rest some weary limbs in preparation for their FA Cup quarter-final matchup at the weekend.
Klopp's commitment to attacking football is well known, even in games where the tie is very much secured, and this fixture will give the youngsters a great platform to make an impression, potentially creating openings for Sparta Prague to pose a threat.
Sparta Prague did themselves an injustice on the scoreboard in the first leg, defensively especially, but they wasted countless chances of their own. They registered seven shots on target and certainly kept the Reds on their toes. Expect them to at least grab a consolation goal here.
