Ol Man Dingle is overpriced at Punchestown
Belloccio dominates the market in division two of the two-mile maiden hurdle at Punchestown and he could be too classy for his rivals if transferring his flat ability to hurdling but one of his rivals at a very big price makes some appeal against him.
Ol Man Dingle finished last on his rules debut in a bumper at Naas but I'm not sure he was suited by that test and that looks a fairly strong bumper with the runner up having since finished second in a bumper at the Punchestown Festival, the fifth has since finished second in a couple of maiden hurdles and the sixth easily won a maiden hurdle last week.
Prior to that, Ol Man Dingle had run well in defeat when narrowly beaten on his point debut at Lingstown. He initially raced a bit keenly before settling in behind the leaders and was still in that position leaving the back straight for the final time. Bumped along on the run to two out, he showed a good turn of foot after jumping that fence to quickly go to the front and he still held an advantage of over a length at the last but was caught late on by Twoohthree.
The winner has since run to a good level under rules including when winning a maiden hurdle by 27 lengths while the fourth has since run well under rules too.
It may be that Ol Man Dingle needs more time as he looked quite immature when coming under pressure at Naas and today may be more about furthering his education but I think the market is currently underplaying his ability and any 25/126.00 or bigger appeals.
