Our resident tipster was on the mark with a winning NAP yesterday and is back today with a sole selection at Killarney...
-
Running consistently well in defeat
-
Likely pace scenario to suit hold up style
-
Bythesametoken is overpriced at Killarney
Plenty of the runners in this listed handicap hurdle often race prominently and that could result in a good pace being set and those being positioned towards the back of the field early on being in the most favourable position.
If that does transpire then Mighty Tom is the obvious candidate to benefit from that and the market hasn't missed that but I think it is underestimating the chance of another horse who is likely to be held up for a late challenge.
Bythesametoken has been beaten less than four lengths in his last three starts over hurdles and I thought he ran well at Galway last time considering the race didn't pan out ideally for him. He was caught wide throughout and briefly got outpaced after jumping two out before staying on in the straight to finish third.
Although he has run well on a variety of ground conditions, I think the slightly better ground today than he raced on last time will suit Bythesametoken and the flat track also plays to his strong traveling strengths.
There is the obvious concern that he's not straightforward in the closing stages and it may be that some of those that usually race handily will choose to not take others on up front for fear of harming their chance and this won't be run as strongly as it might initially appear. However, even with those concerns I think his chance has been overlooked a little and any 14/115.00 or bigger appeals.
