Jason Day is an Australian professional golfer who currently competes on the PGA Tour. The Australian has had some notable results in the major championships, including three runner-up finishes, two of those coming consecutively at the Masters and then the US Open in 2011. In June 2011, Day broke into the world's top ten for the first time in his career, climbing to ninth in the world following his second place finish in the US Open, going on to reach a career-high of seventh later that year.

Day turned professional in July 2006 at just 19-years-old after claiming victory at the NEC Master of the Amateurs. He signed with TaylorMade and Adidas, and went on to play in a number of PGA Tour events before dropping down to the Nationwide Tour in order to gain his full PGA card.
In May 2010, Day became the youngest Australian to win a PGA Tour event, claiming an impressive victory to clinch the HP Byron Nelson Championship. Day gained entry into his first ever major championship at the 2010 Open Championship following the withdrawal of fellow Aussie Greg Norman, going on to record an encouraging tie for 60th place in his first major. In the final major of the year, Day appeared at his first PGA Championship, recording a first top-10 finish at a major following a sensational 66 on Saturday.
At the 2011 Masters at Augusta, Day came close to winning a maiden major title, finishing tied for second with compatriot Adam Scott after a disappointing final round allowed eventual winner Charl Schwartzel to seal the win. Later that year, Day made his first appearance at the US Open, producing a stunning performance to make it back-to-back runners-up finishes at a major tournament by finishing second behind runaway winner Rory McIlroy at the Congressional. The performance saw the Aussie climb into the world top-10 for the first time in his career, ending 2011 ranked 9th on the PGA Tour money list despite not winning a tournament.
Injuries had a serious impact on Day's 2012 season, forcing the Australian to wait until the 2013 Masters before being able to perform at his best at a major tournament. Rounds of 70 and 68 saw Day take a one-shot lead over Fred Couples going into the weekend, although a disappointing weekend saw the Aussie finish third, two shots behind Angel Cabrera and eventual winner Adam Scott.
Day finished as a runner-up in a major championship for the third time in his short career at the 2013 US Open at Merion Golf Club, tying for second place with Phil Mickelson, two strokes behind Englishman Justin Rose.
