Mauritius Open tips and predictions
Steve Rawlings: Daniel Brown is an interesting entrant this week given he now has a PGA Tour card for next year following Laurie Canter's move to LIV. I would have expected him to take the rest of the year off following Canter's defection, but Brown clearly sees this as a great opportunity to sign off the year in style.
As highlighted above, he's a fine links exponent and he contended strongly here two years ago so we know he likes the track. Brown finished third two years ago, beaten by three, and that was despite shooting a 73 on Saturday.
Having been beaten in a playoff in Bahrain in February, Brown won the BMW International Open in July before losing in extra-time again in October at the Open de Espana.
This is his first appearance since the DP World Tour Championship, where he finished 45th, so it's impossible to know how his game is but he's a class act who looks too big at around 25/1 in a field this weak at a venue that clearly suits him.
Steve Rawlings: At 25, Christiaan Burke is only four months older than Schaper and, like his compatriot, Burke has been showing promise for a long time.
He hit an incredible 16-under-par round of 56 at the par-72 Potchefstroom CC layout back in 2021 when playing off +8 and he caught the eye in Joburg last week when he began the event with six straight birdies.
After his tied fourth last week, Burke arrives in Mauritius with current form figures reading 5-18-2-3-4-17-4. He finished fifth in this event 12 months ago at Mont Choisy, so he's a very straightforward pick at a triple-figure price given he's no bigger than 80/1 on the High Street.

Dave Tindall: Brandon Stone's first-round scores are feast or famine at the moment but at 80/181.00 he's worth a punt to produce some more of the good stuff.
After a run of poor openers (76, 77, 74), Stone fired a 64 in round one of last week's Alfred Dunhill Championship to end the first day in third spot. He eventually finished 21st after going 74-67 in the Joburg event which was reduced to 54 holes.
In Mauritius, he was the first-round leader in the 2019 edition of this event. Although it wasn't on this layout, Heritage La Réserve Golf Links, it came on the other golf course on the property.
This one, as the name says, has more of a links feel so that could help Stone, a former Scottish Open winner at Gullane.
He'll be able to handle the wind and the South African can hopefully make an impression from his 13:00 tee-time.

Course Form Pick:
As last year's champion, Parry would almost be an automatic pick this week, but the fact that he arrives for his title defence in good form is even better. He was seventh in Johannesburg last week and in the top 20 prior to that at the Nedbank. What's not to like about his chances of retaining the title? Very little.
