We're kicking off our weekend in northern Germany, and Kev's backing a former Premier League boss to pick up maximum points.

  • Gladbach unbeaten on the road
  • Werder yet to win at home
  • Hosts have conceded 12 league goals already

Werder Bremen v Borussia Mönchengladbach

We once again got the right winner last night, but Bayern's 4-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen failed to deliver the BTTS element of our Bet Builder, and so we were once again left putting teeth marks in our fists.

We move on, but not very far, because in-form Borussia Mönchengladbach are visiting Werder Bremen tonight, and the Foals are worth backing.

Gladbach never looked quite right last season under coach Adi Hütter, who ended up becoming unpopular with fans and players. His replacement was former Norwich boss Daniel Farke, who is a perhaps a more collegiate coach, the kind of operator BMG needed. Borussia are playing some attractive football, and they have lost just one of their seven league matches so far. The loss of key midfielder Florian Neuhaus to injury is a blow, but Farke has plenty of quality alternatives at his disposal.

Werder Bremen's swashbuckling style under rising coaching star Ole Werner has really caught the eye, not least when the northern giants came back from 2-0 down in the 89th minute to win 3-2 at Borussia Dortmund. However, Werder are yet to win at home in the league, and they have only won one of their last four matches. Defending has been a big issue, with 12 goals leaked in just seven top-flight outings.

Gladbach have avoided defeat at Bayern Munich and Freiburg, and they are unbeaten on their travels under Farke. I'll back them Draw No Bet here at 1.981/1, which means our stake is returned if the game ends all square.
