Rio Ave v Porto
Monday 28 August, 20:15
Our chum Tobias moved nicely into the black in Brazil last night, as his boys Botafogo did indeed bash Bahia 3-0. He can focus on sharpening up his capoeira, while we start our week in Portugal.
Porto are looking to take the title away from old foes Benfica this season, and they already have two wins in the books, having beaten Moirerense and Farense 2-1. Coach Sergio Conceicao has once again decided to reject entreaties from interested clubs, as he continues to drill the Dragons into an uber-competitive side.
That competitive streak brings cards aplenty. In their first two league games, Porto have collected a total of six yellow cards and a red.
Rio Ave finished a respectable but unremarkable 12th in the league last season, and the club decided to persist with coach Luis Freire. Rio Ave beat Chaves in their opener, but then lost 2-0 at Estoril.
Rio Ave have lost ten of their last 13 league games against Porto, and they have only beaten them once in the top flight since 2004.
I'll back Porto to win, with Over 4.5 Cards in the game and Porto forward Toni Martinez to have a shot on target at 2.427/5 on the Bet Builder. Martinez has scored in both league games so far, while Rio Ave have racked up five cards across two league games.
