Galway United v Waterford
Tuesday 10 October, 19:45
We enjoyed our Spanish start to the week, as Villarreal's second team stepped up to sweep aside Espanyol 3-1 last night. Both our goals and corners requirements were met with room to spare. We'll switch our attention to Irish Division 1 now, because runaway champions Galway United are up against second-placed Waterford.
Galway have been way too good for the rest of the division this term, and they are a massive 20 points clear at the top of the table. They have won a staggering 27 games out of 33, and racked up 89 goals along the way. Promotion, and indeed the league title, have been wrapped up with plenty of room to spare.
At home, Galway have won all 16 of their league matches, and they have scored at least three goals in nine of those victories. They put six goals past Athlone Town, another six past Finn Harps and nine past Kerry.
Waterford have been the best of the rest so far, and they are well-placed ahead of the playoffs. Keith Long's team has an eight-point cushion in second, but there has been something of a wobble, with just five wins from the last 12 second-tier matches. However, on the road The Blues have impressed, winning four of their last five matches. They have scored at least once in 14 of their 16 away matches in the league this term.
I'll use the Bet Builder here to combine Galway United/Draw Double Chance with an Over 2.5 Goals bet at 2.0421/20. Even though their job is done, Galway should at least have enough concentration to avoid defeat, and eight of their last ten league games have featured three goals or more. When these two teams last met in August, they played out a 2-2 draw at Waterford's Regional Sports Centre.
