The forwards sparkled in Scotland last night, as Dundee's 3-1 win over Raith Rovers in the Scottish Championship landed our Over 2.5 Goals bet with room to spare. We'll take that profit and head to the English National League, because promotion-chasing Eastleigh are up against in-form Gateshead.
Gateshead have had a storming five-match winning streak that has eased their relegation fears, and they find themselves six points clear of the dropzone. On the road they have lost just two of the last 11, and they have scored at least once in nine of those matches. Overall, the north-east outfit have smashed in 13 goals in their last five games.
Eastleigh are clinging onto a playoff spot, but they have won just two of their last seven games. It's their form at Silverlake Stadium that's keeping them alive, with five wins and two draws from their last seven matches on home soil.
Over 2.5 Goals is attractively priced at 2.0811/10, and I think that's largely based on the fact that Eastleigh have kept six clean sheets in their last nine home games in the league. However, Gateshead are playing well and scoring goals, and both teams still have something to play for. Ten of Gateshead's last 20 games in the league have featured at least three goals, and their recent form suggest they can contribute to the scoring.
