Sliding visitors to lose again
Corinthians v Atletico GO
Wednesday 28 September, 23:00
It's been a frustrating start to the week. Once again we got the right winner, only to be let down by one element of the Bet Builder, as Greece's 3-1 win over Northern Ireland tipped us over the 3.5 goals line. With gritted teeth, we move on.
We'll check out a Brazilian clash from the top tier Serie A now, because Corinthians are up against relegation candidates Atletico Goianiense, and a home win should be on the cards.
Atletico GO are sliding towards the drop. They have lost their last four league matches, and stretching back further they have suffered defeat in ten of their last 13 top-level outings. To make matters worse, Jorginho's side (the coach is the former Brazil full-back who once featured for Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich) recently tumbled out of the Copa Sudamericana, losing to fellow Brazilian side Sao Paulo.
Corinthians have had a recent wobble that has seen their title hopes evaporate, but their home form in still strong. The Sao Paulo side have won six of their last nine competitive home matches, including a 4-1 Copa do Brasil win over tonight's opponents as recently as August.
Atletico have lost their last four away matches, and three of those defeats were by at least two goals. I'll happily back the hosts -1.0 on the Asian Handicap here at 2.0421/20.
