Girona v Villarreal
Tuesday 14 May, 21:00
Live on Premier Sports 2
This game promises goals.
Only Real Madrid have scored more goals in La Liga this season than Girona, whose 46 at Estadi Montilivi make them the highest-scoring home side.
Here, they face a team who have conceded the most shots in the Primera Division and a total of 60 goals - only the bottom two have let in more.
However, at the other end, Villarreal have impressed - only the top four have scored more, while only the top three have netted more on the road.
This particular game also still has plenty at stake, unlike some of the others taking place in Spain this midweek.
Girona are still aiming to overhaul Barcelona in second spot and thus qualify for next season's Spanish Supercopa, while Villarreal come into this still holding outside hopes of European football in 2024/25. With time running out to achieve those goals, both have to win.
Artem Dovbyk to score
Hopefully that shows why I'm keen on the goal-related markets and I'll start by, not for the first time this season, backing Artem Dovbyk to score at any time.
Spanish La Liga - Top 5 Goalscorers
| Player | Team | Goals Scored |
|---|---|---|
| Kylian Mbappé | Real Madrid | 25 |
| Vedat Muriqi | Mallorca | 23 |
| Ante Budimir | Osasuna | 17 |
| Vinícius Júnior | Real Madrid | 16 |
| Ferran Torres | Barcelona | 16 |
The Ukrainian is La Liga's top scorer with 20 goals and, after a bit of a dry spell in February and March, he's bang in form at present having scored six in his last six games. That run has seen him find the net in all three home matches.
Against this shaky defence, he looks a solid play.
Alex Baena anytime assist
However, with Villarreal's attacking threat - they've scored multiple goals in four of their last five games - I'm also keen to side with the visitors, especially with Girona having conceded 2+ goals in four of their last six.
The value pick looks to be an Alex Baena anytime assist at 9/25.50.
Baena leads the league for assists with 13 - he has another four in the Europa League too.
The reason for the big price would appear to be the fact that 10 of those 13 have come on home soil.
Still, with Girona far from watertight, I think the price is worth chancing, especially given he has a red-hot striker to work with.
Alexander Sorloth to score
Alexander Sorloth - yes, the former Crystal Palace forward - now has 19 goals in La Liga following a run of 11 in his las 10 games. He has scored in seven of those matches.
That's a record very much worth taking note of.
So, to the staking plan.
The treble of the two goalscorers plus the assister pays north of 17/118.00 - very tempting - but I'm going to split stakes evenly between two doubles.
Back Dovbyk to score & Baena anytime assist
Both feature the Dovbyk goal but one has a Baena assist alongside it (around 17/29.50), the other a Sorloth goal (7/24.50).
