Wednesday Football Tips: Side with Scarpa in 4/1 Bet Builder

As we await the internationals, Wednesday is something of a lull.

However, there is a rearranged game in Brazil's top flight - they are happy to play on without their stars in Serie A.

There's plenty at stake too with Flamengo knowing a win here would take them into an automatic qualification slot for next season's Copa Libertadores, while Atletico are fighting to secure a berth in the Copa Sudamericana.

They may not need it - the Belo Horizonte-based side are hoping to win the Libertadores this season having recently beaten Argentina's River Plate to book their place in the final.

However, all their eggs are now in that basket in terms of trophies as they lost the Copa do Brasil final at the weekend - to none other than Flamengo, who triumphed 4-1 on aggregate having won the home leg 3-1 and then, on Sunday, the away game 1-0.

With that Libertadores battle with fellow Brazilian side Botafogo looming, the problem we have here is knowing who will start, so apologies in advance if this all goes wrong.

Leg 1: Gustavo Scarpa 2+ shots

However, I'm prepared to take a chance on Gustavo Scarpa.

He had seven shots in that two-legged Copa do Brasil final and has now landed the 2+ shots bet in seven of his last 10 starts.

Atletico are seventh for shots taken in Serie A this season, while they managed 31 across the two Copa legs against Flamengo. With this being a game which does mean something to them, Scarpa gets the nod.

Leg 2: Gustavo Scarpa to commit 1+ foul

He's also worth backing to commit 1+ foul, something that's occurred in five of his last seven appearances.

The former Nottingham Forest man, who has been playing on the right-hand side of late, could be up against Alex Sandro again and the ex-Juventus star has drawn a foul in all bar one of his appearances for Flamengo since his summer move.

Leg 3: Wesley to be fouled 2+ times

To complete our Bet Builder, let's also back home right-back Wesley to be fouled 2+ times.

He's landed this is six of his last eight with four of those matches seeing the Flamengo man fouled on at least four occasions.

A player who likes to get forward, Wesley was fouled four times when these two met in the Maracana less than a fortnight ago.
