South Yorkshire moves en masse to Wembley on Monday

After 18/1 and 10/1 winners in the past two days, our football props column offers up an 8/1 shot for Monday's League One play-off final...

  • Teams and ref both good for fouls

  • 11/4 bet has landed 11 times out of 17

  • Add other legs for 8/1 Bet Builder

It's been a good couple of days for this props column with 10/111.00 and 18/119.00 winners and we're going to try another tasty price in Monday's League One play-off final.

Card angles have proved the root of our recent success and with tens of thousands of South Yorkshire folk having travelled down the M1 to Wembley, it's tempting to repeat the trick in a derby moved south and one with huge amounts at stake.

Leg 1: Liam Palmer 2+ fouls

With a high-carding referee in charge, I wouldn't put anyone off going down that route but I feel a better way of seeking profit from this match is by placing the foundations of our Bet Builder in the fouls market.

These two teams are both in the top six when it comes to fouls in League One this season.

Meanwhile, the man with the whistle is Tim Robinson, an official who has spent most of his time in the Championship during 2022/23.

However, in that division, his fouls-per-game figure of 22.67 puts him fourth of those officials who have taken charge of at least 10 games and well above the league average.

In terms of players, one man's price stands out and that belongs to Wednesday's utility man Liam Palmer.

You may have seen him mentioned for his recent cards record, which is six in his last seven games. For the record, he's 12/53.40 to add another here.

But he's available at a bigger price - 11/43.75 - for 2+ fouls at Wembley despite the fact he's landed this in 11 of his last 17 appearances.

Admittedly he's played in a variety of positions during that time but he's expected to line up in defensive midfield here which will put him right in the firing line.

Leg 2: Liam Kitching 1+ foul

On the Barnsley side of things, Liam Kitching gets the nod for 1+ foul due to sheer weight of numbers.

The centre-back has committed a foul in 15 of his last 16 matches.

Leg 3: Bobby Thomas 1+ shot

Finally, I'll move away from the fouls to the shots market where Kitching's defensive colleague Bobby Thomas can deliver at least one.

Barnsley are strong on set-plays - only Ipswich and Portsmouth have scored more from them in League One this season - and often seek out Thomas.

He's managed to deliver on this bet in 11 of his last 13 matches and looks a worthy addition to a three-legged Bet Builder which pays 8/19.00.
