Atletico Madrid v Feyenoord
Wednesday 17:45 (Live on TNT Sports 1)
Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid drew their opening Group E game 1-1 at Lazio. Arne Slot's Feyenoord began with a 2-0 home win over Celtic. Both teams are in good form and together they could put on a show in the Spanish capital on Wednesday evening.
Atletico are odds-on favourites and it's easy to see why. They have won 3/3 Liga home games this season, including an impressive victory over city rivals Real. In all three games, Atletico scored three times: 3-1, 3-1, 3-2.
Going back into last season, the Mattress Makers have won 12 Liga home games in a row. They've scored 2+ in each of the last eight and - undermining Simeone's reputation for parsimonious football - have conceded in 7/8. All eight delivered Over 2.5 Goals in total.
This is Feyenoord's first time in the Champions League group stages since 2017. In the Dutch Eredivisie, they are on a winning streak of five home and away. Last time out on the road, Slot's men thrashed Ajax 4-0. Across those five wins, they have scored no fewer than 24 goals.
Away from home, Feyenoord are W2-D1-L0 domestically, scoring 2+ in 3/3. Going back to the start of last season, they are W15-D4-L1 - and they've scored 2+ in each of the last 10.
Atletico are a step above most Dutch domestic opposition, but they are shaky at the back and Feyenoord's scoring form couldn't be better. Both Teams To Score can - and perhaps should - be backed at 1.910/11.
The issue for Feyenoord is they are missing Santiago Gimenez, who is serving the second half of a two-match Champions League ban. The Mexican has caught the eye of Europe's biggest clubs this season, netting 10 in 7 for the Dutch outfit.
In his absense, Igor Paixao might be the man to watch. He's averaging almost four shots a game this season, scoring on three of his last six appearances.
The Brazilian wide man has had at least two shots in all eight of his Eredivisie and CL appearances this season, hitting at least three in 7/8. He could be a useful component in any Bet Builders on the Sportsbook.
For Atletico, there's a chance Memphis Depay is fit to play after appearing only once in September. Antoine Griezmann has scored in 2/3 recently.
We're going to focus on team outcomes, though. Atleti's home form is strong enough to justify their status as firm favourites - especially with Feyenoord missing a key attacker. We reckon there will be a few goals too, so we'll take an odds-against punt on Atleti to win and Over 2.5 Goals.
