Betfair Ambassador Rivaldo shares his exclusive views on tonight's Champions League clash between Barcelona v Tottenham, and Ousmane Dembele's current Barca troubles...
"Anyway, if he wants to leave, he must prove his value by playing well and not missing training sessions to recover his credibility as a professional,"
Dembele needs to focus on being professional
Ousmane Dembélé's situation at Barcelona is upsetting because he's already shown that he can play very well, score goals and be an important member of the team. He just needs to focus on being a little more professional and to stop being late for training sessions.
As I already mentioned, this is not the correct mentality for someone potentially trying to leave Barcelona. It's always strange to hear that someone might want to leave a big club in this way. Anyway, if he wants to leave, he must prove his value by playing well and not missing training sessions to recover his credibility as a professional, because that will generate interest from other clubs. If he doesn't change, he is hurting himself more than the club.
But this isn't easy for Barca either. They can't simply control all players' steps as they have their own personal lives. Even if you alert the player about his behaviour, you can't do anything else as you would be chasing him all the time.
I think this is more a job for a family member, friends or the player's manager - basically his support network. They should remember him that this could undermine his career which would be a pity for such a talented player.
Barcelona favourites but Spurs are not pushovers
Barcelona won't have an easy task against Tottenham who need a win to try and keep them in the competition.
Even though Barca have already qualified, they're aware that they must win to keep up their own momentum in the Champions League. They can rise to the occasion and win here.
This is also an opportunity for Ernesto Valverde to rotate his squad and give minutes to the players who are not playing often, but that will depend on the manager and if he feels he needs to make changes or not. However, even if he changes the team a bit, I'm still convinced that Barcelona have the quality to win the game, as all their players have more talent.
Spurs have more of a chance should Barca rotate players
With Barcelona already through to the knockout stages, and with the added possibility of them rotating their team, Spurs will have a bigger chance to upset the hosts, but it won't be easy to win at Camp Nou.
Barca could become more vulnerable if they change anything in defence because Tottenham are such a talented attacking team. Players that have had less minutes on the pitch compared to the usual starting XI will naturally concede more chances.
Furthermore, Tottenham must attack in this match if they have any chance of staying in the Champions League, so Barcelona's defence could be seriously tested but at the same time Spurs could also be exposed allowing Barca to counterattack.
Europe is always a priority; but focus must remain in all competitions
Everyone knows the importance of Champions League football and Barcelona are focused in claiming this year's trophy, as we can tell from their results. Obviously, they cannot ignore La Liga as Barcelona are a world-renowned club and they must be competing to win every competition they play in.
I understand that Barcelona and their fans are eager to win the Champions League this season after watching their main rival Real Madrid win it three times in a row, so winning it would be a relief. It's good to win the league, of course, but winning the Champions League is another story.
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man City and Juventus leading the way
I see Barcelona as clear favourites to win the Champions League. Real Madrid and Manchester City - who are developing excellently under Pep Guardiola - are also contenders. Juventus, who are always in the mix and have recently signed one of the best players in the world, must also be favourites right now.
