12:00 - Chelsea Betfair Odds after Rosenoir confirmed as manager

Chelsea are 15/82.88 to finish in the Premier League top four after Liam Rosenior was confirmed as their manager on a six year contract.

The Blues appointed the former-Hull manager, who has impressed in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg, to take over from Enzo Maresca who was sacked on New Year's Day.

They are fifth in the Premier League after 20 matches and Rosenoir's reign will begin with a west London derby at Fulham tomorrow - get tips here.

Betfair opened specials markets on Rosenior's Stamford Bridge reign and evens on the Blues ending the season outside the top five shows that his limited experience makes him an unknown quantity.

He is 4/111.36 to still be in the job come the end of the season.

The club are taking a leap of faith with Rosenior but fans will have fond memories of the last time they appointed a manager in January.

It happened in 2021, when Frank Lampard was replaced by Thomas Tuchel. Five months later they won he Champions League.

Chelsea are 9/43.25 to win a trophy this season - the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup or Champions League - to follow the Conference League and Club World Club trophies they won last season. 

Wayne Rooney, who employed Rosenior as his assistant at Derby, speaks highly of his skills as a coach, as do others who have worked with the 41-year-old.

10:00 - Betting suspended on Next Permanent Chelsea Manager market

Betting has been suspended on who will become the next permanent Chelsea manager with Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior being backed into 1/41.25 at the time of suspension.

It is believed that Rosenior is the leading candidate to replace Enzo Maresca and an appointment could be made official early next week, if not sooner.  Under-21 head coach Calum McFarlane will take charge of Chelsea's trip to Mancheser City on Sunday.

13:00 - Rosenior still a strong odds-on fav for Chelsea job

As Chelsea enter their first full day searching for a new manager there hasn't been much change in the Next Permanent Chelsea Manager market with the prices remaining largely similar to what they were 24 hours ago.

Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior remains the red hot favourite for the job at 4/111.36 ahead of Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola at 6/17.00, who has shortened from 10/111.00 overnight. Third favourite Filipe Luis remains unchanged in the market at 7/18.00.

Rosenior is said to be high on BlueCo's shortlist, a consortium led by Chelsea chairmna Todd Boehly and who also own Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg. It appears it would be a seamless transition for Rosenior to move between the two clubs given their same ownership.

But should Chelsea look elsewhere then Cherries boss Iraola is the name that is generating most interest. The 43-year-old's stock hit a peak earlier in the season when he guided the south coast club to second in the Premier League table, and it's though that a run of 10 Premier League games without a win hasn't seriously dented his reputation.

15:15 - Rosenior shortens again as Felipe enters the race

Liam Rosenior continues to be the only man people want to back to become the next Chelsea manager following the departure of Enzo Maresca earlier today.

Strasbourg boss Rosenior was installed as the 11/26.50 third favourite but he was quickly backed into odds-on at 4/51.80 before shortening again to 4/91.44. And then midway through the afternoon the Betfair Sportsbook reacted again, chopping his odds to become Chelsea's next manager to 3/101.30.

However we have a new second favourite for the job, Flamengo manager Felipe Luis has shortened to 7/18.00 to become the next boss at Stamford Bridge, just ahead of former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas at 9/110.00.

12:20 - Maresca departure confirmed

Chelsea have confirmed that they have parted company with head coach Enzo Maresca, though they stopped short of saying they sacked the 45-year-old Italian.

In a club statement, Chelsea acknowledged Maresca's success during his time with the Blues, saying, "Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club's recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the Club.

Before adding, "With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the Club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track."

Chelsea are expected to appoint a permanent manager in the coming days, though whether that person will be in charge for Sunday's game against Manchester City remains to be seen.

On the Betfair Sportsbook Stasbourg manager Liam Rosenior continues to be heavily backed and he is now 4/91.44 from an opening quote of 11/26.50.

11:30 - Rosenior the early mover to replace Maresca

RC Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior is the early market mover to become the Next Permanent Chelsea Manager after it emerged that Enzo Maresca is increasingly likely to leave the club on New Year's Day.

The Betfair Sportsbook introduced the market early on Thursday morning with former Barcelona boss Xavi installed as the 4/15.00 favourite for the Stamford Bridge boss. But all the early money has been for Rosenior - whose current club are owned by the same ownership group as Chelsea - and he is now available to back at 4/51.80 from a high of 11/26.50 this morning.

Maresca's position has been the subject of increased speculation since the middle of December when in a pre-match press conference he stated that the previous 48 hours had been the worst he'd endured at the club. Chelsea are currently on a run of just one Premier League win in seven games under Maresca and they're a massive 15 points behind leaders Arsenal in the table.

However, should Maresca be sacked then whoever replaces him will be walking into a club who are currently just two points outside of the top four in the Premier League, are into an EFL Cup semi-final, and are in an excellent position to qualify for the knock-out stages of this season's Champions League.

Former Hull manager Rosenior has been receiving high praise since he took over at Strasbourg. He guided the French outfit to seventh in Ligue 1 last season, qualifying for Europe, and he has the club in a similar position this term after reportedly turning down multiple approaches from Premier League clubs.

Behind Rosenior in the market Xavi has drifted out to 9/110.00, while Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is the 10/111.00 third favourite. It's 14/115.00 bar the front three which brings in the likes of Frank Lampard, Cesc Fabregas and Andoni Iraola.
