Premier League Matchday 9 Opta Stats and Tips

Chelsea v Man Utd - Back ex-Red Devil to haunt old club

Saturday 31 October, 12:30, Live on TNT

The Opta Stat: Since the start of March, Chelsea have lost more Premier League games than any other side (11). They've lost 44.4% of their games in 2026 (12/27), their worst ratio in a year since 1993 when they lost 20 of 41 games (48.8%).

Manchester United are winless in their last eight games in all competitions (D3 L5). They last had a longer run in October/November 1988 (9).

Chelsea's Danny Welbeck has scored six Premier League goals against Manchester United, the most any player has ever scored against the Red Devils having played for them in the competition previously.

Bournemouth v Leeds - Back plenty of goals

Saturday 31 October, 15:00

The Opta Stat: Both Premier League meetings between Bournemouth and Leeds ended 2-2 last season - the four games between the sides in the top-flight have seen 20 goals scored at an average of five per
game.

Betfair Bet: Back over 3.5 goals @ 21/103.10

Brentford v Nottm Forest - Back Bees to strike first

Saturday 31 October, 15:00

The Opta Stat: Brentford are one of two teams (along with Man City) to have scored in all eight of their Premier League games so far this season. Their 1-1 draw with Hull last time out was the only time they've not scored first.

Betfair Bet: Back Brentford to score the first goal @ 4/61.67

Man City v Brighton - Back Haaland to score but Seagulls to avoid defeat

Saturday 31 October, 15:00

The Opta Stat: Man City's Erling Haaland has scored seven goals in seven Premier League appearances against Brighton, scoring in the last four without winning any (D2 L2). He's one of three players to do so in Premier League history along with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink against Man Utd (Nov 1998 - Feb 2001) and Charlie Austin against Arsenal (Dec 2014 - April 2018), neither of whom did five in a row.

Betfair Bet: Back Brighton Double Chance and Haaland to score @ 4/15.00

Hull v Ipswich - Back Tractor Boys to win lively game

Saturday 31 October, 15:00

The Opta Stat: Ipswich have won two of their last three league visits to Hull (D1), having won just one of their first 18 away against the Tigers (D6 L11).

Ipswich have conceded in each of their last 27 Premier League games (8 this season, final 19 in 2024-25).

Betfair Bet: Back Ipswich to win and both teams to score @ 7/24.50

Coventry v Sunderland - Back unders as goal-shy teams meet

Saturday 31 October, 15:00

The Opta Stat: Both Sunderland and Coventry are bottom of the goalscoring charts in the Premier League this season with six goals. Coventry have also netted the joint-fewest in the first half of games (1), while Sunderland have netted the joint-fewest after half-time (3).

Betfair Bet: Back under 1.5 goals @ 12/53.40

Tottenham v Crystal Palace - Back Spurs to win again

Saturday 31 October, 17:30, Live on Sky Sports

The Opta Stat: Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi has never lost in four previous Premier League meetings with Crystal Palace (W2 D2), while he's also won two of his three games against Pierre Sage (L1): a 3-2 win against Lyon in September 2024 and 3-1 win against Lens in January 2026, both with Marseille in Ligue 1.

Six of Tottenham's eight Premier League goals this season have been scored in the final 15 minutes of games, the joint most of any side. The average minute of their goals has been the 74th minute, the latest of any side.

Betfair Bet: Back Tottenham win and second-half to have most goals @ 11/102.11

Aston Villa v Fulham - Back Jackson to extend scoring run

Saturday 31 October, 20:00, Live on Sky Sports

The Opta Stat: Nicolas Jackson has scored four goals in his last four Premier League appearances for Aston Villa, as many as he'd managed in his previous 24 games in the competition (4 in 21 for Chelsea, 0 in 3 for Villa). Only Man City duo Erling Haaland (2.92) and Rayan Cherki (2.32) have outperformed their xG more than Jackson this season (2.02).

Betfair Bet: Back Jackson to score @ 13/102.30

Liverpool v Arsenal - Back a goalless game

Sunday 1 November, 16:30, Live on Sky Sports

The Opta Stat: No side has more Premier League clean sheets since the start of September than Liverpool (4 in 6 games), with that tally of four only one fewer than they managed in their first 22 games in 2026 (5).

Arsenal have the joint most clean sheets in the Premier League in 2026-27 (5) and have faced the fewest shots on target (24), the lowest xG (6.2) and allowed the fewest big chances (11). In 2026, they've kept a clean sheet in 56% of league matches (15/27), their third-best tally in one year, behind 1998 (61%, 23/38) and 1903 (59%, 19/32).

Newcastle v Everton - Back Magpies' Monday struggles to continue

Monday 2 November, 20:00, Live on Sky Sports

The Opta Stat: Newcastle have lost 21 of their last 32 Premier League matches on Mondays (W7 D4), including both Monday night games this season against Leeds and Coventry, losing 4-1 in both games.

Betfair Bet: Back Everton @ 15/82.88
