Betfair and YouGov have teamed up to ask football fans their greatest ever 90th minute goals within the Premier League era, where Betfair's new 90 minute offer comes to life...

What is 90 Minute Payout?

Betfair has launched a new product ahead of the 2023-24 season called 90 Minute Payout, where the match result at 90:00 will stick even if your team concedes in injury time.

A huge pain point for bettors is when your single, Acca or Bet Builder loses in injury time thanks to a late goal, but Betfair is back to fight for the customer with their new offer.

If your team is losing in injury time but manages to turn it around, your bet will still win, but you now have the added insurance of 90 Minute Payout if your team is winning at 90:00, your bet will be paid out no matter what happens in added time.

#1 - Ole Gunnar Solskjær (v Bayern Munich) - May 1999

Manchester United's Ole Gunnar Solskjær 93rd minute winner in the 1999 Champions League final has been voted the greatest ever 90th minute goal by football fans in a survey with YouGov from a pre-determined list of 12, beating out Sergio Aguero's famous Premier League title winning goal.

Solskjær netted less than two minutes after teammate Teddy Sheringham had equalised for the Red Devils, who were behind from the sixth minute thanks to a Mario Basler goal.

It is widely regarded as the greatest ever campaign by an English side, capping off a domestic double to make a European treble for Sir Alex Ferguson's charges.

28% of football fans that were surveyed opted for the Norwegian's heroics, with 66% of the Man Utd fans that were involved opting for Ole.

Interestingly, only 6% of Man City fans voted for Solskjær's winner.

#2 - Sergio Agüero (v QPR) - May 2012

Manchester City legend Sergio Agüero's dramatic injury time winner finished in second in the voting, with the Argentine securing his place in the history books to win Manchester City their first ever Premier League title in 2012.

All City needed to do was win, or better Man Utd's result on the final day, but they found themselves 1-2 down in injury time at home to QPR. Edin Dzeko equalised for City in the 92nd minute to give some hope.

Manchester United had just wrapped up three points away at Sunderland to do their bit, but Aguero had other ideas.

Latching on to a Mario Balotelli through ball in the 94th minute, Aguero smashed the ball past Paddy Kenny to secure their first top-flight title since 1968, and Martin Tyler's iconic commentary has made the moment live long in the memory.

#3 - Steven Gerrard (v West Ham) - May 2006

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard's 91st minute equaliser in the 2006 FA Cup final has won 9% of the vote to finish third in the list.

Gerrard scored plenty of memorable goals during his long Liverpool career, but none were more perfectly timed than this rocket from distance.

With the clock ticking to full-time and the Reds losing 2-3 to West Ham, the ball rolled out to Gerrard some 35 yards from goal, who only had one thing in his mind. Bang.

Gerrard unleashed an unstoppable piledriver to equalise before Liverpool would go on to win the competition on penalties, with Gerrard also scoring from the spot.

25% of Liverpool fans surveyed opted for their captain, compared to just 2% of Manchester United's fans. Talk about rivalry.
