Whet your appetite with five Arsenal v Man U classics
In recent seasons, as both teams have been overshadowed by their Premier League rivals, Arsenal v Manchester United lost some of its spark. Now, with table-toppers Arsenal title favourites and United winning nine of their last 10 matches, Sunday's match at the Emirates is hotly-anticipated.
Arsenal 1.9520/21 are firm favourites on the Betfair Exchange, with United 4.216/5 and the Draw 3.953/1.
We'll have an in-depth betting preview live on Saturday and you can get Patrice Evra's prediction. In the meantime, here are five Arsenal v Man Utd classics.
Platt's late winner
1997: Arsenal 3-2 Man Utd
United had done the double over Arsenal the previous season en route to winning the Premier League title. But a new era was beginning at Highbury with Arsene Wenger taking on Alex Ferguson for the first time.
Nicolas Anelka and Patrick Vieira epitomised the new Arsenal and both struck to give them a two goal lead in the first half. Teddy Sheringham's brace brought United level before David Platt - by then a fading force under Wenger - headed home the winner in the 83rd minute. Arsenal went on to win the double that season.
Henry makes Barthez pay
2001: Arsenal 3-1 Man Utd
Manchester United had won three Premier League titles in a row but the 2001/02 season was when they came unstuck. They went in 1-0 up at half-time thanks to Paul Scholes' strike.
In the second-half, Arsenal rallied with Freddie Ljungberg equalising. After that, it was all about United's goalkeeper Fabien Barthez who passed straight to his France team-mate Thierry Henry. The French forward made no mistake.
Five minutes later, Barthez rushed out to collect a through ball before dropping it into the path of Henry who sealed the home win. Arsenal would go on to win another double in the same campaign.
The Fergie v Wenger classic
2003: Arsenal 2-2 Man Utd
Arsenal were the champions and had looked a good bet to win the title in 2002/03, especially after United made a poor start. By the time these two met in April, however, the pendulum had swung back to Old Trafford and the Red Devils headed south in fine form, having tonked a strong Newcastle side 6-2 days before.
This game had everything - four goals, a red card for Sol Campbell and, of course, Wenger and Ferguson at war on the touchline. At the final whistle, Ferguson walked across the pitch to the United fans with his arms aloft. The message was clear: "We're taking our title back." And so they did.
Keane and Vieira kick off in the tunnel
2005: Arsenal 2-4 Man Utd
It's not what you want to see. Deplorable, really... Oh, come off it - the sight of two of the world's best players squaring up in the tunnel was fascinating. Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira were told to cool it by the referee and then carried their midfield battle on to the pitch.
The Frenchman put the hosts 1-0 up before goals from Ryan Giggs, Dennis Bergkamp and two from Cristiano Ronaldo made it 3-2. United went down to 10 men when Mikael Silvestre was sent off for a headbutt but they hung on and John O'Shea's 89th minute dink into the Arsenal net was the highlight of a wonderful away win.
Gallas's goals
2008: Arsenal 2 - 2 Man Utd
Was this the last great Arsenal v United clash? There was a memorable midfield battle between Cesc Fabregas and United's Brazilian Anderson. Meanwhile, William Gallas who, having scored the own goal that gave United a first-half lead, redeemed himself with a 90th-minute equaliser that salvaged a point.
Cristiano Ronaldo was United's other scorer in what was probably his best season for the club, propelling them to a Premier League and Champions League double.
