Football Bet of the Day: Rampant Roskilde to eat their Greens

Our pre-Eurovision trip to Austria proved profitable, as SV Horn's 2-0 win over LASK Linz kept us under the 2.5 goals barrier. I'm tempted to reinvest the winnings by buying one of my wife's crocheted Conchita Wurst beards ahead of the Song Contest, but the rules of the column dictate we have to stick the money on a football match.

With that in mind, we're off to Denmark. This week we've been concentrating on second-tier football, and today is no exception. We're with the leaders Viborg as they take on fifth-placed Roskilde.

Viborg are on the cusp of promotion and battling with AGF for the First Division title, and the pressure seems to have affected them in recent weeks. The Greens don't lose many games - they have suffered just one league defeat all season - but they have drawn four of their last five matches. Their last two home games have ended level, as they were held to a goalless draw by Vendsyssel, and needed a 90th-minute equaliser to salvage a 3-3 draw against Vejle.

Roskilde are sixth in the standings, and are on one of their best runs of the season. FCR have won four of their last six matches, and if you stretch back a bit further, they have taken maximum points from seven of their last 11 outings. Away from home Roskilde have suffered just one defeat in their last five matches.

Viborg are 1.412/5 to win, and given that they have drawn both of their games against Roskilde this season, that seems too short. There are two ways you could play this. You could oppose the hosts with a lay, but if you want a bit more insurance you could back Roskilde +1.0 on the Asian Handicap at 2.3527/20. If it's a draw or an away win you get an odds-against winner, but if Roskilde lose by a goal you get your stake back.
