Football Bet of the Day: Samp to stamp all over SPAL

Lille went fairly big on goals in France last night. Unfortunately they didn't get any help from Marseille, who failed to score for only the third time in 25 away matches. A 3-0 win left our bet one short, but it's a result we'd grab with both hands in Italy this evening.

The Monday-night game in Serie A pits 13th-placed Sampdoria at home to 12th-placed SPAL. The hosts won this fixture 2-0 last season and we fancy them to take all three points again today.

Marco Giampaolo's men have played three tough games at Stadio Luigi Ferraris so far: they've beaten Napoli 3-0, drawn 1-1 with Fiorentina and narrowly lost 0-1 to Inter. We're giving them some credit for those results and also for last season's W12-D3-L4 home record. They finished 10th last season and, hosting teams that finished below them, they were a very strong W8-D1-L1.

SPAL finished 17th last term, with a W3-D6-L10 away record. The three wins came against the only three teams that finished below them in the table. This season, Leonardo Semplici's men have lost their two most recent away matches and we think they're well set to complete an unwanted hat-trick this evening.
