Football Bet of the Day: Goals spree for Salernitana

It was a remarkable game in Portugal last night. With 10 minutes, Rio Ave were 0-2 down to Porto and our bet was sinking fast with them. A brace of late goals salvaged a point for the hosts and landed our BTTS bet.

We've come to Italy today for the Serie B clash between Salernitana and Carpi - and what we hope will be more of the same. The visitors are second bottom of the table and need wins to stay alive. They can take heart from having won 5/5 head-to-heads with Salernitana since returning to Serie B a couple of seasons ago. Up in 13th, Salernitana could probably use one more win just to make sure of their place for next season.

Salernitana are W8-D3-L5 at Stadio Arechi this season and odds-on favourites to take all three points this afternoon. Last time out Angelo Gregucci's men beat eighth-placed Cittadella 4-2 and we reckon there could be a few more goals on the way. The hosts have conceded at least once in 6/7 and, despite Carpi's poor away form, we think they can make today's game another party.

Fabrizio Castori's Carpi have lost six straight games away from home. However, they have scored in 5/6 defeats and in 13/16 road games since the start of term. At the other end, they have conceded at least three times in 5/6 and we fancy Salernitana can edge a high-scoring affair this afternoon.
