Tobias Gourlay's on his way to Portugal, where Rio Ave are a generous price to pick up another three points at home
Rio Ave v Chaves
Saturday 18:00
The dross came from us, rather than Oss last night. The visitors scored more goals than they'd managed across their first five away games of the season, beating NEC 5-1 to obliterate our goals punt.
A month ago, we plumped for a Rio Ave home match and the hosts delivered a 2-1 win. We've had to wait a while, but the Big River are at home again tonight and we wouldn't be anywhere else. Late last season, Rio Ave beat Chaves 2-1 and we fancy they can repeat the feat this evening.
Taking account of that Boavista success, Jose Gomes's men are now unbeaten in 13 at Rio Ave Stadium (W11-D2). Going back to the start of last term, they've won 14/17 hosting teams from outside Portugal's Big Three, including 3/3 this season.
Daniel Ramos's visitors have lost three of their first four road games of 2018/19. Last term, they finished sixth but still only went W1-D1-L6 travelling to other top-half finishers. The season before that, they came in 11th, having gone winless in similar matches (D3-L6). They've struggled in this kind of game for years, then, and we don't think they'll enjoy this evening's trip to in-form Rio Ave.
